About

I'm Claire, and this is how my social studies teacher signed my sixth grade yearbook:

Two decades later, the guideline still holds. I run on curiosity and care about process – the nuts-and-bolts, behind-the-scenes, turpentine kind. It's an instinct that has carried me from leading community development projects in the Peace Corps to designing software across complex domains like law, freight, and utilities. What draws me in is always the same: listening closely and figuring out solutions that meet people where they are, then help them go further.

With software proliferating faster than ever, I've become increasingly focused on how craft and style separate products that merely function from those that fit people's identities and build their trust. That kind of resonance is earned in the details: how research is done, how an interaction flows, how a line of copy lands. I think the difference between software people use and software people love comes down to intentionality at every level.

To me, the most exciting technology democratizes access – in the form of tools and toys that help people work and play, and ultimately live more meaningfully. In my own day-to-day, I’m happiest when I get to collaborate early, ask questions that haven’t been fully shaped yet, and make abstract ideas tangible.
